“Nature Through Artifice” is the theme that guides the first chapter in the explorations of the IN Residence Diaries project. Subject of the examination developed by the book has to do with the role of design as an expressive resource, sensitive to environmental conditions. In its impact with the environment, design produces “new” objects that become in time integral part of the landscape: pre-existing landscape and created object – “nature” and “artifice” – are the two starting points from which the theoretical investigation starts.

The book also offers the opportunity to deepen the thought and work of the designers who took part in the first edition of the series of workshops produced by IN Residence.
