The theme of the investigation conducted by this edition of the workshop, in keeping with a praxis that has become established over the previous years, is identified by a title that contains two words in a reciprocal relationship.
The combination of the two words in the formula “Imaginative Rituals”, finally, suggests a recurring ability to stimulate the imagination through the exercise of practices, actions and gestures useful to create particular, specific conditions.
Can design, in general, be the expression of a ritual praxis useful to invoke particular visions or to stimulate the appearance of a sequence of images that can be interpreted in keeping with a certain sense of narration, though in an abstract way? What requirements should or could a designed object have in order to be considered compatible with or necessary in the exercise of a given ritual behavior? What type of values could it embody? What categories of emotions could it stimulate? What new rituals – in keeping with which liturgies – could be practiced through these objects?
